Galewsky, Eugen

(¤ 1864, † 1935) Dermatologist. Eugen Emanuel Galewski was born in Wroclaw, the son of a merchant. From 1883-1888 he studied medicine in Breslau and Freiburg. From 1888-1891 he was an assistant at the dermatological clinic in Breslau under Albert Neisser. In 1891 he set up his own practice in Dresden. Galewski's most notable act was the clinical introduction of cignoline (as a substitute for the then common chrysarobin; see Araroba tree below) into the therapy of psoriasis in 1916.
