Fox, william tilbury

(¤ 9.5.1836, † 1879) Dermatologist. WT Fox was born in Hampshire, the son of the surgeon Luther Owen Fox. Medical studies at University College Hospital in London. 1864 position as Physician at St. John`s Hospital in London, 1867 Physician at the Department of Skin Diseases at Charing Cross Hospital, London; 1868 Physician at the Department of Skin Diseases at University College Hospital in London. Basically, the work of WT Fox can be seen in the tradition of Robert Willan and Thomas Bateman, whose textbook he republished in 1877. 1864 First description of impetigo contagiosa and dyshidrosis. Description of lichen pilaris which he called "cacatrophia folliculorum" (quote n. M. Kaposi, Pahtologie und Therpaie der Hautkrankheiten. Urban and Schwarzenberg, Vienna and Leipzig 1883, p.539).
