A cytostatic drug belonging to the taxanes, a derivative of paclitaxel (it also largely exhibits its properties) which was synthesized from the needles of the European yew (Taxus baccata). Paclitaxel is mainly extracted from the Pacific yew. Docetaxel works in lower doses than paclitaxel and is indicated for breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, stomach cancer, head and neck cancer and prostate cancer.
