Digital viral warts, which are increasingly occurring among employees in the fishing industry. There is no doubt that this is an occupational disease (BK 3102), as it was "somehow" caused by work. According to § 1 No. 1 SGB V, there are clearly "work-related health hazards". The employers' liability insurance associations are responsible for preventing occupational diseases, but not usually for compensating them. The treatment costs are therefore borne by the health insurance funds.

In a serial examination of "fishmonger's warts", HPV4 was found 1x, HPV1 3x, a hybrid virus that hybridizes with both HPV27 and HPV2 5x and HPV7 7x. More than one type was detected in 4 people. These results indicate that HPV7 is not, as previously thought, exclusive to people who handle meat and suggest that environmental conditions are likely to be a factor in the clinical manifestation of HPV7 infection (Rüdlinger R et al. 1989).
