Crosses

Term taken from French for "crook" or "shepherd's crook", which is used for the bulb- or arch-shaped curvature of the vena saphena magna (great saphenous vein) and parva (small saphenous vein) before it enters the vena femoralis or poplitea. The common phlebological term "cross of the great saphenous vein" refers to a 2 to 4 cm long connecting piece between the great saphenous vein and the femoral vein with its valves. Functionally most important transfascial connection between the epi- and subfascial veins.

In the Anglo-American literature, the term "sapheno-femoral junction" is used instead of the term "crosses/crosses".
