Rare, single or multiple (e.g. in patients with Cowden's syndrome), slow-growing, asymptomatic, solid, benign tumours with the appropriate characteristic substrate. Since 1988 described as an entity; possibly a special variant of dermatofibroma.

Circumscribed superficial dermal node, homogeneously eosinophilic collagenous fibers with characteristic optically empty gaps between the fiber structures. The tumour cells express vimentin, CD34, but not actin, desmin and S-100. giant cells can occur (giant cell collagenomas).
