Bisdesmoside (from bi -, Greek for 2 and "desmos" for band). In most glycosides, which have a triterpene, steroid or steroidal alkaloid as aglycone, monosaccharides such as glucose, galactose, fucose, rhamnose, xylose, arabinose and glucuronic acid occur as sugar components. In most glycosides the aglycone is bound in only one single position (so-called monodesmosides). When bound at 2 positions, these glycoside formations are called bisdesmosides.
