Cover plate

A cover plate is a prosthetic aid for the dentist in case of postoperative bleeding following surgical interventions in the jaw area.

A dental cover plate is often made of plastic and is either attached to the teeth with a wire or to the jaw with screws. This technique is used to stop bleeding mechanically or by compression.

The cover plate is also called "hemorrhage plate, post-bleeding plate, dressing plate" because it provides protection against post-bleeding by mechanically closing or compressing a wound for a longer period of time after surgery (especially in cases of blood coagulation disorders).
