Tagetes minuta extract (inci)

Tagetes minuta extract is the name given to the extract from the flowers of Tagetes minuta, a plant from the composite family native to Africa, Europe and South America.

The main components are thiophenes and flavonoids (e.g. tagetone, piperitone and quercetin-3,6-dimethyl ether, quercetin-3-methyl ether - Al-Musayeib NM et al. 2014)

Phytomedical: The flower extract has antioxidant, bactericidal and fungicidal properties. Phytotherapeutically, extracts from the leaves and roots of the plant are also used.
Cosmetics: The flower extract is used as essential oil in perfumes.
