Steartrimonium chloride (inci)

Steartrimonium chloride is a quaternary trimethylammonium salt which is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance acts as a hair conditioning agent (makes the hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume) and as a preservative (substance used in cosmetic preparations as a preservative. Inhibits the growth of micro-organisms (The general conditions for preservatives that may be used in cosmetics are defined in the EC Cosmetics Regulation - 1223/2009 - Annex V).
