Stearamide dea (inci)

Stearamide is the amide of stearic acid (octadecanamide) with the molecular formula: C18H37NO, "DEA" is the acronym for diethanolamine. Diethanolamine is a colourless amino alcohol.

The stearic acid amide (fatty acid amide) DEA is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance mixture acts as a viscosity regulator (increases or decreases the viscosity (toughness) of cosmetic products), antistatic agent (reduces static charges by neutralizing the electrical charge on the surface, for example of hair) and foaming agent (increases foam formation and improves volume, structure and durability of the foam).
