Sodium cellulose sulphates (inci)

"Sodium" refers to the element sodium.
Cellulose is a vegetable polysaccharide. Cellulose consists of high-molecular unbranched chains in which 500 - 2,000 D-glucose units β-1-4-glycosidically are linked together. Cellulose is the main component of the plant cell walls and leads to their stability. It is hydrolysed by cellulases to the disaccharide cellubiosis. "Sulfates" are salts/esters of sulfuric acid.

Sodium cellulose sulphates are a mixture of substances used in cosmetic preparations where they act as viscosity regulators (increase or decrease the viscosity of cosmetic products), film formers (form a film on skin, hair or nails), emulsion stabilizers (support the emulsion formation and improve the product stability), binding agents (bind cosmetic preparations containing powders).
