Shellac cera (inci)

Shellac cera refers to shellac wax, a wax fraction of shellac.

Shellac is a natural product. Shellac consists of excrements of the female lacquer scale insect. The red secretion is first decolorized with soda solution and can be poured into thin plates and used after refining and melting.

Shellac cera is used in cosmetic formulations. The wax acts as a skin care agent (keeps the skin in good condition), film former (forms a film on skin, hair or nails when applied), emollient (makes the skin smooth and supple), hair conditioning agent (makes the hair easy to comb, soft, smooth and shiny and gives it volume) and as a binder (ensures the desired cohesion of powdery, powdery or creamy products; prevents solids and liquid components from separating).
