Salvia sclarea oil (inci)

Salvia sclarea oil, is the essential oil obtained by steam distillation from the flowering shoots and leaves of Salvia sclarea, the Muscatel sage, also known as Muscatel sage or scarlet herb (Muscatel Sage; Clear-Eye; Clary Sage; Clary), an evergreen shrub from the labiate family.

Salvia sclarea oil is used in cosmetic formulations. The oil acts as an astringent (tightens the skin and thickens the skin surface), antiseptic and deodorant. It also has a calming and anti-inflammatory effect.

Muscat sage oil is also used in popular medicine for headaches and menstrual problems.
