Salvia sclarea extract (inci)

Salvia sclarea extract, is the extract obtained by steam distillation from the herb and flowers of Salvia sclarea, the Muscatel sage, also known as scarlet herb (Muscatel Sage; Clear-Eye; Clary Sage; Clary), an evergreen shrub from the labiate family.

Salvia sclarea extract is used in cosmetic formulations. The extract acts as an astringent (contracts/compresses the skin surface), antiseborrhoic (inhibits sebum production) and skin care product (keeps the skin in good condition). The extract also has a soothing effect (relieves discomfort on the skin and scalp).
