Ppg-23 lanolin alcohol ether (inci)

PPG is the acronym for "polypropylene glycol", the polymer of propylene glycol (1,2-propanediol), a dihydric alcohol. The number after "PPG" indicates the average number of propylene glycol molecular units, for "PPG-30" this is 30 propylene glycol molecular units. "lanolin alcohol" refers to fatty alcohols that are obtained from lanolin.

PPG-30 lanolin alcohol ether is used in cosmetic formulations. The mixture of substances acts as an emulsifier (a surface-active substance used in cosmetic preparations as an additive to combine two immiscible liquids - e.g. oil and water - to form an emulsion), emollient (makes the skin smooth and supple) and hair conditioner (makes the hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume).
