Ppg-14 butyl ether (inci)

PPG-14 butyl ether is a substance used in cosmetic formulations where it acts as an antistatic agent (reduces static electricity by neutralizing the electrical charge on the surface, for example of hair) and combability aid (reduces or prevents tangling of the hair due to changes or damage on the hair surface, thus improving combability).
"PPG" in this context means a PPG (polypropylene glycol) derivative. The number after "PPG-" indicates the average number of molecular units -CH2-CH2-CH2-O-. "Butyl" usually designates butanol (1-butanol or n-butanol) as the alcoholic component or, in general, a saturated hydrocarbon chain with 4 carbon atoms; "ether" designates a linkage product of two alcohols.
