Palmitoyl pg-trimonium chloride (inci)

"palmitoyl' means the univalent radical which, derived from palmitic acid (hexadecanoic acid), is characterised by the loss of the hydroxy group, 'trimonium' means a trimethylammonium quaternary salt, 'chlorides' means the salts of hydrogen chloride (hydrochloric acid)

Palmitoyl PG-trimonium chloride is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance acts as an antistatic agent (reduces static charges by neutralizing the electrical charge on the surface, for example of hair) and as a hair conditioning agent (makes hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume).
