Methoxy peg-17/dodecyl glycol copolymer (inci)

Methoxy PEG-17/Dodecyl glycol copolymer denotes a methylated polyethylene glycol derivative with the linear formula: CH3O(CH2CH2O)nH (see figure). The number after "PEG-" indicates the average number of molecular units -CH2-CH2-O-, for Methoxy PEG-17 this is 17 molecular units.
Dodceyl denotes the ester of lauric acid, "glycol" the divalent alcohol "glycol" and "copolymer", a polymer composed of several different monomers.

Methoxy PEG-17/Dodecyl glycol copolymer is used in cosmetic formulations. Methoxy PEG-/Dodecyl glycol copolymer (INCI) supports the formation of emulsions and improves the resistance and shelf life of emulsions. It also acts as a viscosity regulator (increases or decreases the viscosity of cosmetic products).
