Mea-hydrolyzed collagen (inci)

MEA-hydrolyzed collagen is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance has a skin-caring and moisturizing effect; it also acts as a hair conditioning agent (makes the hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume).

MEA is the acronym for monoethanolamide; hydrolyzed collagen, a collagen hydrolysate, is made water soluble by enzymatic processes. Hydrolyzed collagen is obtained from animal connective tissue, especially bovine collagen. In Asia, collagen hydrolysates are often obtained from Pacific fish species (cod) or from chicken collagen.
