Maltodextrin(s) (inci)

Maltodextrin(s) refers to a group of vegetable starch sugars. They are produced by controlled starch hydrolysis. The individual products differ in their proportions of dextrose, maltose and polysaccharides. The higher the glucose content, the more hygroscopic the end product becomes. Maltodextrin is used in cosmetic formulations. The substance acts as an adsorbent (absorbs water- and/or oil-soluble dissolved or finely dispersed substances), binder (binds powdery and powdery cosmetic preparations), film former and hair conditioning agent. Maltodextrin further supports the formation of emulsions and improves the resistance and durability of emulsions.
