Longifolene

Longifolen is the trivial name of a naturally occurring, colourless hydrocarbon. Longifolen is chemically a tricyclic sesquiterpene. The name Longifolen is derived from the pine "Pinus longifolia" (Pinus roxburghii). Longifolen was isolated from the resin of this pine. The substance is now also produced synthetically (Karimi S et al. 2003). Longifolen has a low antifungal effect. Derivatives of longifolene are used as fragrances in cosmetic formulations.
