Lauroylethyl glucosides (inci)

Lauroylethyl glucoside, a lauric acid derivative in which lauric acid is glycosidically linked to glucopyranose (glucopyranoside), acts as a surfactant (washing-active substance), emulsifier (changes the interfacial tension of liquids such as water and oil so that they can be mixed together).

Glucosides (glucosides) are a subgroup of glycosides. Glucosides are organic compounds in which the OH group on C atom 1 (or 2) of the glucose is glycosidically linked (usually beta-glycosidically) to alcoholic or phenolic hydroxyl groups of plant ingredients or other reaction partners (in the case of lauroylethyl glucosides with lauric acid). Glucosides split off glucose during hydrolysis.
