Illicium verum oil (inci)

Illicium verum oil is the essential drug found in the leaves of star anise (star anise is a 6-12m high evergreen tree of the star anise family). The spicy, sweet essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the fresh or partially dried fruits, and to a lesser extent from the leaves.

Star anise oil cleans, deodorizes and protects the oral cavity; the oil has a strengthening effect on skin or hair. The oil also acts as a fragrance (reduces or inhibits the basic smell or taste of a product).
