Hydrogen peroxide (inci)

Hydrogen peroxide, also known as hydrogen peroxide (INCI), is a pale blue, colourless and liquid compound of hydrogen and oxygen in diluted form. The substance reacts strongly with copper, brass and potassium iodide and is used in different concentrations as an oxidizing agent as well as a bleaching and disinfecting agent (see below hydrogen peroxide solution 2%; hydrogen peroxide solution 10%)

Hydrogen peroxide is used in medicine for disinfecting objects, skin and wounds and in dentistry, among other things. Hydrogen peroxide has a disinfecting effect, whereby the enzyme catalase, when in contact with tissue, causes the release of atomic oxygen, which leads, among other things, to the denaturation of cell proteins.

The substance is also used as a bleaching agent.
