Hedera helix extract (inci)

Hedera helix extract, the aqueous or alcoholic extracts from the ivy leaves, are used in cosmetic formulations. Hedera helix extract has a strengthening effect on skin or hair. Furthermore, the ivy leaf extract has an astringent effect, compresses the skin's surface and soothes discomfort on the skin and scalp. Hedera helix has an antimicrobial and skin-caring properties. As an anti-caking agent, the ivy extract prevents powdered cosmetic products from caking together.

Ivy-leaf extracts are used as Hederae (helicis) folium naturopathically, especially as expectorant and secretolytic.
