Hamamelis virginiana distillate (inci)

Hamamelis virginiana distillates, the aqueous solution obtained by steam distillation from the freshly cut and partially dried branches or leaves, and from the dried crushed bark of the trunks of Hamamelis virginiana, the witch hazel.

Bark: >4% tannins, elagitannin, catechin derivatives, gallic acid

Leaves: Tannins (gallotannins), flavonoids, essential oil

Hamamelis virginiana distillate is used in cosmetic preparations. The distillate has an astringent effect, thickens the skin surface; relieves discomfort on skin and scalp. It is also used as a skin care and hair conditioning agent (makes the hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume).
