Dodecyl gallate (inci)

Dodecyl gallate is a substance used in cosmetic preparations (also in food).

The substance acts as an antioxidant (inhibits reactions promoted by oxygen, thus preventing oxidation and rancidity of ingredients).

Gallic acid (Acidum gallicum) or salts/esters of gallic acid can be found in various compounds as antioxidants in various types of food. Foodstuffs.

In rare cases they can cause allergic reactions in the oral mucosa (contact stomatitis) (Gamboni 2013).

In larger collectives, the most common type IV reactions are caused by dodecyl gallate, propyl gallate and a few by octyl gallate. These gallates were found in food (margarine), moisturizers and lipsticks.
