Disodium cocamido peg-3 sulfosuccinates (inci)

Disodium cocamido PEG-3 sulfosuccinate, an ester of succinic acid, is a substance used in cosmetic formulations. The substance acts as a surfactant and foaming agent (acts foaming by changing the surface tension of the liquid). Furthermore, it acts as a hair conditioning agent (makes the hair easy to comb, smooth, soft and shiny and gives it volume) and cleans the body surface.

PEG stands for "polyethylene glycols" which, depending on the chain length, are polymers of varying consistency (liquid or solid), chemically inert, water-soluble and non-toxic. They are formed by polymerisation of ethylene oxide.
