Cyanotis arachnoidea extract (inci)

Extract from Cyanotis arachnoidea (from Greek kyanos=dark blue, otos=ear) of a plant of the commelinaceae family. The name refers to the colour of the flowers.

The extract is used in cosmetic preparations and has a skin-caring effect.

Cyanotis arachnoidea extract contains 20-hydroxyecdysone (Ecdysterone), a plant sterol that belongs to the ecdysones, a group of steroid hormones that act as moulting hormones in insects and crustaceans (Crustaceae). 20-Hydroxyecdysone is an anabolic phytosterol which is used in bodybuilding studios for muscle building, among other things.
