Cinnamal (chemical name: cinnamic aldehyde) is widely used in cosmetic products. Cinnamal is a chemical fragrance which also serves as a denaturant. Cinnamal is mainly used in products containing alcohol to make the alcohol (ethanol) undrinkable. When denatured alcohol is used the term "Alcohol denat" appears in the INCI list. Alternatively, cosmetically, Cinnamal will also be used to mask unwanted odours.
