Robertson or centric translocation: 2 acrocentric chromosomes join together to form a larger, novel chromosome; loss of a centromere and the short arms of the chromosomes.
Reciprocal translocation: 2 broken chromsome pieces from different chromosomes (blue and green) are transferred to another chromosome, end product see right.
