Oseltamivir

Drug substance from the group of neuraminidase inhibitors.

Oseltamivir is offered alongside zanamivir and amantadine as a remedy for true influenza caused by influenza A or B viruses. The drug is said to have a virostatic effect. Its use against avian influenza has been recommended by the WHO. In 2012 and 2014, studies by the Cochrane Collaboration raised doubts about the efficacy and safety of oseltamivir.

Therapy of viral flu (influenza), post-exposure prophylaxis (prevention after possible contact with an infected person) in children over 1 year of age and in adults approved.
