Immunoglobulin G, also known as IgG or gamma globulin, refers to a globulin fraction that differs from other plasma proteins in its antibody properties. These are mainly directed against viruses and bacteria and are part of the humoral immune defence by substances soluble in the blood.

Standard value: The reference range is between 7 and 16 g/l

Pathologically debased: B and T cell defects, combined immunodeficiencies, viral infections, exudative enteropathy, nephrotic syndrome, burns, malignant monoclonal gammopathies, lymphocytic leukemias, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas, drugs

Pathologically increased: malignant and benign monoclonal gammopathies, acute hepatitis, chronic persistent hepatitis, infections, rheumatic diseases, liver cirrhosis, primary biliary cirrhosis, infections
