Hydroxypropyltrimonium hydrolyzed milk protein

Quaternary ammonium chloride produced in a reaction between hydroxypropyltrimethylamine and hydrolysed milk protein.

Quaternary (lat. quaternarius = consisting of four) ammonium compounds, also called QAV or quats, are organic ammonium compounds in which all four valences of a nitrogen atom are organically bound. They are therefore ionic compounds. Quaternary trimethylammonium salt from milk protein hydrolysate is formed in a reaction of hydroxypropyltrimethylamine and hydrolysed milk protein.

Hydroxypropyltrimonium hydrolyzed milk protein is used in cosmetic preparations, hair shampoos and hair conditioners (also in body care products). Reduces the electrostatic charge of the hair shafts, has a conditioning effect, so that the hair becomes softer and smoother. It is easier to comb and shines more.
