Designations containing a "/", such as Glyceryl Caprylate/Caprate, are mixtures of monoesters, in this example of Glyceryl Caprylate and Glyceryl Caprate.

The term "SE" includes an admixture of sodium or potassium salts of the acid in question.

Glyceryl monoesters are used in cosmetic formulations. In most cases they act as moisturizers and emollients.
