Deodorant

Deodorants, also called antiperspirants, are products based on alcoholic or aqueous/alcoholic solutions, emulsions, gels, oils, powders against unpleasant odours.

Further components of deodorants are stabilizers, consistency enhancers, anti-foaming agents, colorants and the actual antiperspirant and odorant agents.

Deodorants often contain antibacterial agents(chlorhexidine, triclosan). Furthermore in low concentration fragrances (perfume oils).

Other possible ingredients are: odour absorbers (e.g. silica, talcum) and enzyme inhibitors (block the enzymes responsible for the decomposition of sweat, e.g. citric acid triethyl ester).
