Cxcl7

CXCL7 is a platelet-derived growth factor that belongs to the CXC chemokines. This growth factor is able to activate numerous cellular processes such as DNA synthesis, mitosis activity, glycolysis, intracellular cAMP accumulation, prostaglandin E2 secretion and the synthesis of hyaluronic acid. CXCL7 can also induce the secretion of plasminogen by synovial cells. CXCL7 also has antimicrobial properties (bactericidal and antifungal). CXCL7 is significantly overexpressed (macrophages) in invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (B44.9) and allergic bronchopulomal aspergillosis (ABPA). CXCL7, together with CXCL4, is significantly overexpressed in the synovial fluidity of "early" rheumatoid arthritis.

CXCL7/CXCR2 and malignancies: A number of studies have shown that the CXCL7/CXCR2 axis plays a role in the processing of malignant tumours, such as lung, kidney, colon and breast cancer. CXCL7 is also overexpressed in cholangiocarcinoma. In colorectal carcinoma, a significant correlation between the level of CXCL7 expression and a poor prognosis could be established. In this context, the observation made in breast carcinoma is interesting that CXCL7 is able to increase the expression of lymphangiogenesis factors VEGF-C/D in target organs.
