Coloration

Coloration is the permanent coloration of the hair. The colour is created by chemical reactions directly on and in the hair.

Hair dyes are mostly oxidizing agents consisting of water peroxide and a dye paste. Both are brought together before application and then applied to the hair. The dyeing process is completed after 30 minutes of exposure. The hair shaft is now completely dyed through. Decisive for this colouring is the use of hydrogen peroxide in combination with ammonia or monoethanolamine.

Depending on their composition, colorations are permanently durable or up to 24 hair washes. In contrast to a coloration, the hair shaft is not "dyed through" when tinting, but only covered with a layer of color.
