CD16b denotes the Fcγ-receptor IIIb, a glycolised protein receptor from the group of Fc-receptors. As Fcγ receptor, CD16b binds to the Fc region of immunoglobulin G, regardless of whether antigens are bound or not. It is formed by neutrophilic granulocytes and stimulated eosinophilic granulocytes. In contrast to the closely related CD16a, it has no ITAM and is not involved in antibody dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and phagocytosis.
