Arachidic acid (from Arachis hypogaea = peanut), also known as arachidic acid, is a substance from the group of saturated fatty acids. Arachidic acid is found esterified with glycerine in various vegetable oils, for example in peanut oil, cocoa butter, soybean oil, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil and jojoba oil.
Arachidic acid, or eicosanoic acid, is a saturated C20 carboxylic acid from the group of higher fatty acids with the molecular formula: C19H39COOH. Arachidic acid is a white solid that is stable under normal ambient conditions. The salts/esters of arachidic acid are called arachinoates, eicosanoates or arachidates
